GREETINGS
TO ALL ENEMYMAKERS EVERYWHERE! WELCOME TO THE LATEST UPDATE OF THE
NEWS AND VIEWS FROM THE E888 CAMP, INCLUDING THE LATEST FROM THE
DEPTHS OF STUDIO HELL.
IT'S
BEEN A WHILE
FIRSTLY
I WOULD LIKE TO APLOGISE FOR THE DELAY IN MAKING THIS UPDATE BUT
THINGS HAVE BEEN PRETTY HECTIC. WE ARE STILL IN THE MIDST OF "STUDIO
MANIA" AND IN THE PROCESS OF TRACKING VOCAL OVERDUBS AT PRESENT.
THE
DRUMS, BASS AND GUITARS WERE PUT DOWN LIVE AND I CAN HONESTLY SAY
THAT THE TUNES SOUND HUGE! WE'VE HAD A COUPLE OF JOURNALIST FRIENDS
ROUND TO HANG OUT AND LISTEN, THE FEEDBACK WAS AWESOME, WELL IT'S
GOT US EXICITED!
COMPARISONS HAVE BEEN MADE AS PEOPLE DO, AND I'VE HEARD SEVERAL
AWESOME REFERENCES, FROM BLACK LABEL SOCIETY TO LIFE OF AGONY AND
MACHINE HEAD TO GODSMACK. I THINK IT GETS THE THUMBS UP!
THERE
WAS A SMALL DELAY DUE TO ZAC INJURING HIS BACK AT BLOODSTOCK (MORE
ON THIS LATER) AND THEN GOING ON VACATION TO FIJI FOR A MONTH ,
(IT'S ALRIGHT FOR SOME) BUT I MUST SAY HE WAS LOOKING WELL RESTED
UNTIL HE STARTED HIS VOCALS (HEE, HEE).
BACK
TO THE STUDIO, AS RYK MENTIONED IN THE LAST POSTING, THE STUDIO
IS BUILT BENEATH AN UNDERTAKERS AND WE HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING SOME
STRANGE OCCURENCES TO SAY THE LEAST.
THERE
HAVE BEEN DAYS WHEN WE COULDN'T WORK AS STRANGE SOUNDS CAME THROUGH
THE WALL AND BANGING FROM THE CEILING, AS WELL AS LIGHTS AND EQUIPMENT
TURNING THEMSELVES ON AND OFF AT RANDOM, STUFF GOING MISSING AND
AUDIO PLAYING BACKWARDS AND IN VERY STRANGE ORDERS.
WHILST
RECORDING "EKO" THE RECORDER FROZE ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS
AND FINALLY WHEN WE MANAGED TO SAVE THE FILE IT WAS AN EERIE 666MB.
CARC'S
COMMENT WAS " NOW THAT'S METAL" AND I HAVE TO AGREE. AND
IN SOMEWAY IT HAS ADDED TO THE VIBE AND ENERGY OF THE RECORD. FINALLY
SOME COOL NEWS IS THAT WE'VE MANAGED TO GET "H" THE VOICE
OF ACID REIGN TO DO SOME GUEST VOCALS ON "KILLING WORDS"
IT ROCKS!
BLOODSTOCK
AS
MANY OF YOU WILL KNOW WE TOOK A SHORT BREAK FROM THE STUDIO IN AUGUST
TO APPEAR AT THE BLOODSTOCK FESTIVAL AND THOSE OF YOU WHO WERE THERE
WILL KNOW IT WAS A GREAT DAY ALL IN ALL. A GREAT SUCCESS FOR US,
WE MADE A LOT OF NEW FRIENDS AND WE HOPE TO SEE SOME OF YOU AT SHOWS
IN THE FUTURE, A BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO CAME TO THE SIGING
ROOM TO GIVE THEIR SUPPORT, AND TO ALL THE BANDS, CREWS AND EVERYONE
WHO HELPED TO MAKE A GREAT DAY OF METAL!
FOR
THOSE OF YOU WHO DON'T KNOW YET, BLOODSTOCK IS THE METAL FEST IN
THE UK, ORGANISED BY METALHEADS FOR METALHEADS, SUPPORT THE SCENE,
SUPPORT BLOODSTOCK! CHECK OUT THE LIVE REVIEW FROM POWERPLAY MAGAZINE
ON THE PRESS PAGE.
AS
I MENTIONED EARLIER ZAC TOOK A FALL IN THE FIRST SONG IN THE SET
AT BLOODSTOCK, BUT SOILDERED ON DESPITE BEING IN PAIN. WE ONLY REALISED
LATER HOW BAD IT WAS WHEN HE GOT WHISKED AWAY TO ACCIDENT AND EMERGENCY
AT DERBY ROYAL INFIRMARY.
AFTER REST AND SPECIALIST HELP, HE HAS MADE A FULL RECOVERY. THANKS
TO ALL THE WELL WISHERS AND FOR THE EMAILS.
SPECIAL
THANKS TO VINCE AND MARTIN @ BLOODSTOCK, ROGER PATTERSON ( A GENT),
ALL THE BANDS AND MARK AND CHRIS @ POWERPLAY.

A
mighty hello to everyone reading this!
As
I write, we are in the depths of recording mayhem, laying down tracks
way into the small hours. As far as I'm concerned it already sounds
brilliant and I cannot wait to hear the final guitar and vocal overdubs.
We
are recording 16 songs in total although We have ear marked 12 tracks
for the album, the other songs, will be bonus tracks for other territory
releases.
A
few Erie things have happened whilst recording, which you can read
about in Rish's studio report. Incidentally I was not aware that
the studio was built underneath an undertakers ! That explains a
lot, and also Acid Reign recorded their first two albums there,
cool.
Track
listing
Here
is the track listing for the album, if any titles are different
on the release? See Zac, you know what singers can be like, Ha.
We
have also tracked a couple of our favourite covers, which we sometimes
play live, perhaps for posterity or maybe we'll release them, who
knows.
"PLANET
DOW JONE$"
1. Breathing new air
2. Pieces of eight
3. The rainmaker
4. Aum shanti
5. Antibrand
6. Magick rooms
7. This cocoon
8. Killing words
9. Planet dow jone$
10. Forgive me
11. Circles at dawn
12. Eko
Extra
tracks are:
13. angels weep
14. black tides... of sorrow
15. emerald (thin lizzy cover)
16. a national acrobat (sabbath cover)
Powerplay
magazine
Nice
to see the band feature in July's issue of powerplay magazine, along
with a sampler of "aum shanti" on the cover mount cd.
"we
expect big things from this band" was the final quote in the
article. We certainly hope so!!! Thanx to Mark Hoaksley @ Powerplay
As
soon as humanly possible we will get the article up on the press
page for you guy's to peruse at your leisure, some of you have mailed
to say you checked out the interview in drowned in sound, we will
get that on the press page as soon as we can.
Free
stuff
We
are now having so many requests for the bands promo's, that if we
got into sending one out to everyone who's asked, we would'nt have
time to be in the band.
So we will make the two previous promo's available in their entirety
for you to download, completely free of charge, go for it!
Bloodstock
festival
We
have just confirmed our appearance at the Bloodstock festival in
Derby assembly rooms on Sat 31st august, it's gonna be a great day
with awesome bands like: Kai hansen, blind guardian, sabbat &
bal-sagoth
be
there and support the metal scene!
See

Recent
Shows
As
some of you are aware, we played three shows with Gilby Clarke and
Love/Hate
last month, in Dudley, Bradford and Nottingham all shows went rather
well I thought. My personal Favourite was the last show at Rock
City, great venue and great crowd, We got a lot of good feedback
from people that night due to the club being open after the show.
Thanks to everyone who voiced their support on the night and also
thanks to the folks who travelled down from Dudley and Sheffield
to see us. Cheers! Both bands were cool and a pleasure to play with;
we'll hopefully bump into the guys again at some stage.
Talking of pleasure It sure was a pleasure to meet Brian Tichy (Pride
and Glory) who was playing drums for Gilby, check out his new band
"BALL" they're pretty awesome www.briantichy.com they
have an album out called "American Aggression" get it
now! (I see Zac has it in his May playlist.) mmm...
Thanx
to Gilby, Brian & Stefan. Jizzy, Robbie, Kerry & Dave John
Vyner. Colin & STS Touring.
Compilation
Release
This
month we have a track featured on the new compilation sampler from
Copro records titled "COP OFF". The track is titled "EKO".
The song is based on a witch's rune and contains elements of a pagan
spell. The song will also be re-recorded for the album. (More on
this later) Get the sampler from any good record shop and pay no
more than a fiver (£5) then let us know what you think? Other
cool tracks on the sampler are by Earthtone 9, Medulla Nocte and
Vacant stare amongst others. Check it out!
Date
changed
WE
will not be appearing at the London show with U.D.O. due to the
fact that someone has bought onto the show, apologies but it is
out of our hands. We will however still be playing with him at JB's
in Dudley on the 17th May, hope we'll see you there!
New
Dates
James
(the band P.a.) tells me that there will be London dates in June
with Virgin Steele and Overkill, as soon as there are confirmed,
they will be posted on the dates page.
New
playlists
Check
out what we're listening to at the moment, on the playlist
page and see if you agree.
The
Album
Recording
starts this month at Silverbear studios in the north of England.
We have been busy in pre production for about a month now and things
are taking shape. We aim to record mostly live, to try and capture
the entire weight and depth of the band. Production and engineering
duties fall on Zac And he tells me we will be recording onto hard
disk. For a full run down on studio gear go to the new Silverbear
page There will be a full track running order in the next update
including extra tracks for Europe and Japan.
Studio
diary
AS
promised I shall be keeping a weekly studio diary, and will update
it regularly to keep you abreast of events and hopefully include
some photo's of studio mayhem.
Celebrations
Finally
on a totally unrelated topic I should mention, Zac's been crazy
lately, as his beloved team (The Baggies) West Bromwich Albion gained
promotion into the premier league, Congratulations to them. Let's
see how they do against the masters, Manchester United? Hee, hee.
Normal service should resume soon.
Cheers
everyone keep "defending the faith"

LATEST
NEWS
This
is the first news update for 2002 and we have a lot of new things
to report,
including label interest, the new album, more scheduled shows and
some major changes to the site... So read on!
Name
change
Yep!
You read it correctly! The band have decided to change their name
to:
ENEMYMAKER888
We
feel this makes the band a lot more unique (as we've discovered
a couple of
other rainmakers out there) it leans more towards the natural aggressive
style the band has now evolved into. It will also give us our own
identity for all future
Official releases (read on) in the metal world.
Web
site changes
There
are going to be some major changes on the site to coincide with
the band name change. Our new URL / web address will be:
www.enemymaker888.com
Don't
stress, as the old address will work fine also. This will be ongoing
for a
short while so please be patient, it will be worth it. Anything
you may wish to see on the new sites or ideas, email me at enemymaker888@hotmail.com
Label negotiations
Label
negotiations
We
are currently in talks with a cool U.K. label regards the release
of our debut album. They have mentioned a June/July release and
hopefully it will see the light of day in Europe, Scandinavia, Japan
and the U.S. When everything is official, you will be the first
to know all details, so keep checking in!
New
shows
Ex
Accept legend UDO has once again asked us to play with him in the
U.K. Some of you may remember the sell out show at the underworld
with Udo, gravedigger and R888 Back in 2000, it was a great night
of metal. This time we've landed the special guests slot at both
U.K. shows, London underworld and Dudley jb's on the 16th and 17th
of may respectively, hope to see you there!
Recent
shows
The
three shows we recently played at bury, muzikfest and h&a were
all good fun, we enjoyed them a lot. The Bury show in particular
was kicking, a hometown show for both rishi and ryk and boy did
they know it. Lots of old faces and many more new ones, man can
they rock! It was also cool to see the band in the Bury Times.
Special
thanxs to Sighing Gaia, Dave black and little Rob (killer sound)
Also Mike, Ste, Maz, Piot, Rosie, Woz, wild Will, Rita, Maria, Kasia,
Stasia etc (the hardcore)
Muzik
fest was a bit hectic but all came good in the end, I enjoyed myself
immensely and I know it was marks favourite show of the three. We
always enjoy playing in London, and we plan to be there again soon.
special
thanx to lisa @ gingermonkey, Malcome Dome @ Total rock, Diamond
Dave @ totalrock and zero cypher and rxThe H & A is a real intimate
gig
for us but we had fun all the same, music at it's roots, no pretensions
and as underground as you can get, Remember Support the scene! We
do!!!
special
thanx to Ivan. and John @ neon promotions
That
is all for now folks, Please check in regularly to see the new updates
and let us know what you think.
Roll
on next month.
Zachary.
