AEON "Demo 1" '93 3 songs

Brutal technical Death from Croatia?!! No bullshit friends, this lot, formerly under the moniker DISSECTION, streight-up shred! Musically, AEON remind me somewhat of Mortification, yet with a little more progressive edge and a little more depth to their overall technique.Vocals are pure growling Death, smidge overpowering at times to the musical output, yet easily understandable. No lyrics availible, although titles such as "Left To Decay" and "Congest", pretty much spell things out. Sound is decent to fair, and came well for and 8-track job.

AEON "Demo 2" '93 5 songs

Eleven months later, and with the addition of a keyboardist(Sinisa Bival), AEON decided to tap more into their progressive/technical leanings. The outcome, a more "personilized" sound, with a NOCTURNUS type essence(both in structures and effects), that with the right kind of promotion, I feel will create a solid nitch for the band in technical Death circles. As with this evolution in skill and style, vocalist Dario Kroznjak has altered the streight forward Death as before, and has gone into more raspier range, that compliments the music very effectively. Again no lyrics were provided, yet this time, titles seem to follow the direction of Sci-Fi, Horror, and Fantasy. Soundwise, "Demo 2" is far celaner and ultimately better produced, and also is another 8-track affair. In more recent news, the bad has inked a deal with ABSTRACT EMOTIONS(Spain) and have a debut CD forthcoming in winter '95 or early spring '96.

AEON "Clean Hand of the Eternal Gods"

Reversing all the way to Issue #3.5 where this lot were Interviewed and reviewed. For those that read their Intv. In that number will no doubt remember that this was/is the cassette Ep supposedly to be released by Spain's madman Jordi Bellaubi and his so-called label? ABSTRACT EMOTIONS. From the band's viewpoint Jordi renegged on his dealings with the act, even to the degree of not bothering to return phone calls, letters and/or internet E-mails. Basically severing any tie to the band and leaving them in limbo to fend not for themselves but also leaving those fans who were really anticipating this Ep release to sit like idiots on their thumbs and rotate till the end of time. (Whadda pal eh?-ed.) Now about that review. This Ep is one of the better I've heard lately, and even more so as it's a self-produced gem. Featuring exempliary Progressive/Technical Death, mixed with some of the current facets from the U/G. (semi- Black and Gring influences) In my opinion, these Croatians will turn the tables on most in the international scene and especially those who were under the absurd impression that nothing of any class or value was eminating from this war torn region. Next to the MAD LION Rec. series reviewed prior in this issue, this cassette Ep has all the perks you'd receive from that label; pro sound, pro inlay, packaging, etc. Yet this is a total DIY and really sets a rule I think, that no matter if a labels FUCKS you these dayz - you can always knuckle down and D.o I.t Y.ourself. Never Say Die.

AEON "Untitled" Debut Lp (Adv.) Unsigned

Picking up from where the Ep left off, these maniacs blast us once more with a nine count to the cranium!! Truly a band that I can't hype enough, what with their unyeilding focus on original and technically demanding METAL material. They've proved beyond any shadow of a doubt AEON are a force not to be trifled with nor forgotten. Are they the CYNIC/NOCTURNUS of the East? The argument is there for you decide.
